There’s motivation behind CFA interim champion Sean Soriano (7-0) who defends his title for the first time against undefeated Elvin Brito (7-0).

Soriano said he heard Brito’s camp made a comment in regards to Soriano’s past victory.

“I heard a comment from his camp saying that I laid and prayed to a win,” he said. “I want to shut them up.”

Soriano defeated Victor Delgado at CFA 09 Night of Champions by unanimous decision to earn the title.

He said he caught a little of Delgado’s fight.

“I was warming up during his fight,” he said. “I saw clips of it online. He did a pretty good job. He controlled the fight.”

Brito had a back and forth fight against Patrick Cenoble, which earned him the title shot. Brito won by unanimous decision.

Brito is from Puerto Rico and Soriano has descendants is from Dominican Republic. Ironically, both nations faced off at the World Baseball Classic. Dominican Republic came out on top.
