BY RRR CFA fighter Ashlee Evans Smith (1-0) advanced to the all the women tournament finals by default due to her opponent coming in overweight. But Smith wasn’t pleased with the result. Smith was scheduled to fight Barone in the semi-finals of the all women tournament at CFA 11. The tournament is for $20,000 and the CFA featherweight title. “I was not happy about my opponent making weight. I really wanted to fight her despite her weight but it came down to a liability issue. She was extremely overweight. The number is unsure cause she didn’t get on the scale.

The number could be anywhere from 15 to 25 that has been talked about,” she said. “When you are that over it becomes a safety risk. It was unprofessional. I am not mad at her. I am sad I couldn’t get to fight. All I wanted to do was get in there. I enjoy the feeling of getting in the cage.” Barone was a fill in as her original opponent Peggy Morgan wasn’t able to compete for further reason. However, the Canadian just didn’t make the weight leaving Smith upset. “I have a hundred percent confidence in myself,” she said in an interview. “I knew I was going to beat Barone. I am 1-0 professionally and I have 9 amateur fights. I wanted to rack up my wins.” Smith will now meet Fallon Fox at the finals scheduled for CFA 12 in the summer.
