Kyle wants CFA gold
BY RODOLFO ROMAN MMA veteran Mike Kyle (20-9) came to South Florida in hopes of making an impact in the sport’s scene and he did it in only 21 seconds. CFA 11 main eventer Kyle defeated another veteran of the sport Travis Wiuff (68-18) via KO in 21 seconds of the first round live on the promotion’s nationally televised show on AXS TV. “I am thankful for the win and the opportunity,” he said after the show. Although, the American Kickboxing Academy standout thought the referee delayed the stoppage. “Fighters have to be protected,” he said. “I didn’t want to continue fighting or punching him.
But I had to tell the referee to stop it.” Kyle came into the cage as a happy fighter signing and greeting fans as he made his way to the cage. Prior to his fight, he took a break from warming up to watch the undercard. “A good buddy of mine told me a good thing and that’s to go out there and have fun,” he said. “I put a lot of fights on myself. I have no business putting pressure on myself.” The California fighter said he was impressed with the entire CFA fight card. “CFA is putting on great shows,” he said. “There is non-stop action from the start to the end. I was in the back of the locker room and I was watching the undercard and the fights were all good enough to be on tv.” Kyle said despite his victory, he has one thing on his mind and that’s CFA gold. “I never ever turn down a fight,” he said. “Hopefully CFA will give me an opportunity for the belt.”
