Puerto Rican mixed martial artist Elvin Leon Brito (7-0) wants to be the face of the sport in his island.

“I am happy to represent Puerto Rico,” he said. “I want to be the face of Puerto Rican mma.”

Brito faces Sean Soriano (7-0) for his interim featherweight title at CFA 1ay 24 at the BankUnited Center May 24. The show will air live on AXS TV.

Brito, who is training at several camps in Illinois, said he is ready to show the world what he is made of.

“I want to show Puerto Ricans are ready to fight at a top level,” he said.

Brito earned a title shot after a victory at CFA 09 against Patrick Cenoble in a slugfest. CFA CEO Jorge De La Noval said right after his win that Brito would get a title shot.

He said he is looking forward to fighting Soriano.

“I haven’t fought a good wrestler in a while,” he said. “Soriano is a good wrestler and well rounded guy.”

Brito said a win over Soriano would be great for his mma resume.

“I am happy I get to fight another undefeated fighter,” he said. “It’s a great win under my belt.”
